Serena & Lily

This eclectic bohemian look seems to be everywhere right now and while it will inevitably become an overused, annoying trend (if it hasn’t already) I’m currently happy to hop on the bandwagon. I think it’s such a fun way to decorate although this look is deceivingly difficult to create. That being said I think Serena & Lily’s current collection has some fantastic accessories and furniture pieces that could beautifully accomplish this look.
For example I’m loving their “chakkis” (in full disclosure I have one on the way. I’ll let you know how it looks when it arrives). Their “poufs” are so fun and a great addition to any kids nursery or play room while their furniture pieces feature classic lines that ground almost any bold accessory.
I actually think one of Serena & Lily’s strong points is their Bazaar. You have to hop on these items quickly, but I love the uniqueness of their finds. Stay tuned as the next Bazaar starts on March 25th and you don’t want to miss out!
So if you’re into this bohemian trend, take a peak and maybe you’ll find a fabulous addition for your room!

We came across Timothy Oulton while in ABC Home (yes, yes I know this is turning into ABC Home week but the place is so huge we could probably devote a whole blog to it). When Joe saw this designer I could see he instantly wished we had a man’s room in the house and he actually started verbally renovating our new home in order to accommodate a poker room filled with this furniture. Stay tuned I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes a reality.
Anyway, on to Timothy Oulton. The brand does exude a brandy drinking, poker playing persona. Much to my initial embarrassment, Joe loudly remarked that most of the stuff looked like a cooler version of Restoration Hardware to which the fabulously androgynous sales rep whispered “we actually manufacture for them”. Joe, I stand corrected very good observation.
The prices weren’t offensive (although I guess that depends on what you consider offensive). A club chair I saw ran about $1700, which is comparable to RH.
I think this is a great brand to turn to when looking for masculine furniture options or if you like RH but want something with a little more edge!

Admittedly, we just stopped in here for drinks. Actually, Joe went first while I looked at pillows on ABC’s first floor. He came back holding an ice-cold beer and while I think he was breaking numerous rules while drinking his way through the store, the pilsner made him much more patient during my shopping escapade so I decided to turn a blind eye.
We went back to the restaurant when he needed a refill and for once I was thrilled that he pushed for another drink because I loved the decor! The look goes along with their whole organic farm to table concept, which is everywhere right now. But I loved the pure white textured walls, along with the reclaimed wood beams, antique mirrors, raw wood tables and exposed brick. The overall effect was inviting and warm while remaining modern.
Looking around at the plates of the brunch crowd, the food looked delicious and we plan to actually eat next time we’re back although I will say my two blood orange Bellini’s were excellent. An added perk was running into Meg Ryan and her daughter along with some mystery man having a quiet brunch together. Love her (plastic surgery and all!)
