Antiques de Provence, llc

Hi everyone, I’m behind on posting again so I’m going to stop promising you a daily post and just do my best to post more often!

A few weeks ago, Joe and I went to a wedding in one of our favorite cities, Nola! We had an amazing time going to French Quarter Fest, day drinking at Cafe Amelie and eating at Stella! (unfortunately, we missed Mr. Cage by a few weeks…although maybe that’s a good thing). We also managed to do a little shopping between music sets much to Joe’s chagrin. Although nothing the bribe of a few Pimm’s cups couldn’t handle.

One of our stops was a favorite antique shop of mine on Royal St. called Antiques de Provence, llc. While I love their inventory, (which is surprisingly well documented on their website) I think I love the building and courtyard even more. Aside from the music and general laissez faires attitude that I love about Nola, I love the secretness of its private gardens. They add a charm to the city that you’re not going to find strolling down Bourbon.

I’ve been racking my brain as to how to recreate one of these magical courtyards in Mill Valley, but I think their charm lies not just in their materials and architectural details but in the history of the city and the spirit of its residents. I guess it just gives me another excuse to visit more often!

ABC Home & Carpet

First off, it’s been awhile! I keep meaning to post but little Oliver keeps me on the run. I’m sincerely going to try to post daily from here on out!

Joe and I just got back from a lovely trip to NY for our friends’ wedding (which was beautiful!). It was our first trip without Oliver and actually my first time ever away from the little guy. It was incredibly difficult for me to leave but we had such an amazing time once we got to NY that I’m glad I did.

The quick trip was pretty much spent eating, drinking and shopping and one of our stops was ABC Home (definitely a top 5 store for me). While I realize there’s nothing very new about ABC Home (it’s been around since 1897 after all) I always love going there and am consistently blown away by their incredible inventory.

While nothing beats going there in person, if you can’t make it out to NYC their website is pretty decent. Here are a few of my faves from when we were there!

PS The above pic is actually of the ABC Kitchen, which we stopped in for a drink (I really wasn’t kidding when I say that’s pretty much all we did). I’ll write more on our experience there soon!

Napa Valley Vintage Home

Hi everyone, it’s been a long time I know! Our little Oliver has thrown me for a loop these past few months and I finally feel like I’m catching my breath! This parenting thing is tough work :)

That being said we’re up in Napa for a little summer vacation and it’s been great to relax a bit! I was wandering around downtown St. Helena the other day and stopped in Vintage Home. It’s a fabulous little store and if you’re ever in the area definitely stop by!

One of my favorite items they carry are these candles from Lafco. Each scent is beautiful and I love that they are catagorized by room. They’d make a great hostess gift or a nice little treat for yourself!

Enjoy this last weekend of the summer! I can’t believe Fall is almost here!
