Summer Has Arrived (part deux)

I was in West Elm yesterday and was impressed with their outdoor pillow collection for two reasons, one because the selection was so large and two because I didn’t even know they made outdoor pillows! I really like their orange and grey options (which is a big color this season). The only patterns I wasn’t really into were their Ikat options, I think I’m just sick of Ikat.

The quality of the pillows seemed pretty good. They might last a couple seasons with a lot of wear and tear, but for the price that’s not too shabby!

As I mentioned in my update to the post “Summer Has Arrived” I was in CB2 today checking out some outdoor furniture. While I was there, I came across this awesome dining table (pictured above). The Rivet Dining Table has a glass top and its base is made of steel supports (which are authentic … the steel mill info is stamped on the inside of the base and legs). I just love the combination of the chic glass top with the raw steel legs. It would be perfect in any contemporary space and (as with most CB2 products) the price is right at $649!

Do It Yourself

I’m  not usually into the more crafty ‘do it yourself’ type projects, but when it comes to furniture I think it can be a go-to option. The above dresser is from one of my latest projects. My client needed a dresser for storage, but the look of the old dresser (above) didn’t fit with the new look we were giving her space. So instead of purchasing a new dresser I suggested she refinish the old one. We selected a paint color and the knobs and voila! In one afternoon she completely revamped her piece of furniture. I think she did a fabulous job!

The antique white paint compliments the vintage look we were going for and knobs (from Anthropologie) added the perfect splash of color. It’s amazing what a little paint can do, which I think is always a good thing to remember!
