Yesterday, the NY Times ran an article and wonderful slideshow presentation featuring the works of Brazilian landscape designer, painter and all around artist, Roberto Marx. Marx was the first to truly create tropical gardens in Brazil. He was also a painter, set, costume and jewelry designer. His work will be featured at the Paço Imperial museum until March and then travels to São Paulo.

What really caught my eye are the above street murals that grace the sidewalks of Copacabana beach in Rio. Isn’t it just a beautiful design? I’ll admit, when I saw the thumbnail picture of it I thought the pattern was wallpaper and got really excited ( I probably shouldn’t admit that). While I was a little disappointed about the wallpaper thing, I did decide where to go on my next vacation. Art on beach sidewalks … who could pass that up?! Take a look at the Times article for more details about Marx and the exhibit- Marx article.
