Thanks to the Design*Sponge sneak peak of Leah Hannen’s home (which I thoroughly enjoyed!), I was lead to the website of Portland shop Olio United. I’m heading up to Portland next week and I can’t wait to stop by and peruse the store in person. Until then, I had to settle for their website and found this awesome Furni Creations Alba alarm clock that will be replacing our run-of-the-mill Bed Bath and Beyond creation asap!

I generally take pride in not judging or purchasing a book by its cover, but I must admit it’s exactly that which drew me to ‘The Proust Questionnaire” published by Assouline. While these colorful covers add automatic accents to a room, the content of these books is also fun. Not only do they contain Proust’s famous responses in his own hand, they contain the answers of interesting celebs such as Brigitte Bardot, Richard Meier and Peter Lindbergh.
If that’s not enough to keep you interested, the coup de gras and sure hit at your next dinner party is the supply of questionnaires provided to pass around to your friends, giving you true insight into their souls…ok that might be a little much, but after a few drinks it could be a fun game. Sort of like an intellectual Mad Libs but with a prettier cover!

Creative Candlelight

I guess with our impending Christmas Eve dinner just around the corner I’m on kind of a tabletop kick! I just found these delightful candle votive holders from the SF Moma store and I think they’ll be a perfect addition to our Christmas decor. Around Thanksgiving I had the hardest time finding creative, reasonably priced candle holders. Everything that was even remotely interesting was ridiculously expensive (I think the most offensive one was $90 for a little glass platform!) So I’m happy to report that the Madelaine Votive Holder is not only a fun design but is on sale for $14.98. Sounds like a deal to me!
