The Pampered Pup

In one of her recent posts, my dear friend Molly over at Family Fabulous brought up an interesting solution to baby changing tables in small spaces … dog beds. I’ll admit this was a bit unexpected but totally makes sense and got me thinking about all the wonderful dog beds out there.

While I don’t have any kids, I do have my dog Lucy. Unfortunately, she’s 70 pounds and many of the beds out there can’t accommodate her, er… heft shall we say? (I need to choose my words wisely, I don’t want any doggy complexes) And much to our chagrin, she’s taken quite a liking to our own bed, which has led to a few sleepless nights lately, but that’s a different story for a different day.

Anyway, I rounded up some of my favorite beds. You truly can find any style from mod to shabby chic to lux hotel to uber-modern. The prices also vary drastically from $30 to the thousands! Regardless of price I thought some of these would be fun to share.

Who knows, if Lucy has a fabulous dog bed maybe she’ll be motivated to move to the floor. But that’s going to have to be a pretty special bed, I’m thinking something made out of dog bones… any suggestions?

Neckwear (update)
December 30th, 2008 § 1 Comment

As you know from my previous post “Neckwear” I was loving the “Coco” necklace by Fiona Paxton… alas, I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised when I walked into Urban Outfitters the other day and staring me in the face was a direct knock-off of the “Coco” necklace along with a couple other knock-offs of Paxton’s designs (pictured above, the “Coco” version isn’t available online). As you can imagine, I’m a bit conflicted because I loved the original so much but for a mere $34 I can get about the same look. In person, the quality isn’t fabulous, but what can you expect for $34? My only disappointment is now that the necklace is at Urban there is a distinct probability that this will become a played out trend very quickly. What’s a girl to do?

Update: I’ve noticed a lot of you are looking for Fiona Paxton knock-offs (I don’t blame you, her designs are amazing but expensive) Unfortunately, since this post Urban Outfitters no longer has these necklaces online, I’m assuming they’re sold out. I’m still on the look out for other options, which of course I’ll post as soon as I find. I’d love to hear from you if you’ve had any luck! Maybe until then, we can get Urban to bring this item back! We’ll see…
Hennessey + Ingalls

I was down in L.A. a little while ago, walking along the beach in 75 degree weather having the “this place is amazing but could I really live here” battle in my head when I came across the Hennessey + Ingalls Bookstore. I was actually familiar with the store, having ordered from them before, but I had completely forgotten they were located in Santa Monica.

As you know, I’m a book nut and I proceeded to ignore the pristine weather outside and spent the next few hours perusing the amazing selection they have here. From interior design to landscaping to fashion and graphic design, they have it all and they’ve also just opened a second store in Hollywood. Their website is comprehensive with a vast selection, but if you ever have the chance, you must visit in person. With a place like this to while away the hours, who cares about the weather!
