Norman the Doorman

Ok, I fully recognize that this is a little random, but it makes me laugh, which is really important right now. Meet “Norman the Doorman” the handy helper who sacrifices his comfort so you don’t have to hold open a door… how thoughtful!
Anyway, “Norm” is from the SF Moma store. He was designed by Ramon Middlekoop and Chris Koens from the Netherlands and comes in green and orange. So why not infuse some humor in an otherwise mundane task and let “Norm” help you out!

In Touch, In Style

It’s old news that many think written communication is dead. But there’s still something wonderful about receiving a hand written note in the mail among all the bills, catalogs and discount coupons. There are so many beautiful cards out there, but I think these letterpress cards from Honeylux are a fun departure from the traditional while still being classy and fabulously vintage.
Honeylux is an Oakland based company. They print everything individually on a Golding Pearl Improved #11 press from 1908. In addition to handcrafted note cards they also create coasters and custom items.
So in these crazy, sometimes depressing times, drop your friends or family a quick note. I’m sure it will be appreciated.

Pendant Lights

As I’m sure you know, nothing ruins a room more quickly than horrible lighting. Florescent lighting is not only unflattering to a space, but let’s be honest, adds at least 10 years to ones complexion. I think these pendant lights from Juliska are the perfect accent light to complete a space particularly a kitchen or dining area.
I love Juliska and own many of their ceramic and glassware products. They are delicate but durable (a very important feature in our household, as my husband can attest I tend to put everything in the dishwasher, which has resulted in the unfortunate demise of too many of our wedding gifts).
Anyway, back to lighting! These hand-blown glass pendant lights are stunning, well crafted and elegant. The designs are versatile in that they fit in both modern and traditional homes. Above are three of my favorites (Amalia, Isabella and Florence). Go to their website juliska.com to view the whole collection!
